Artist´s Note: In this piece, the objects are wandering into a situation that is unfamiliar to them, both content wise and experiential. While advocating, individuals are often placed in these situations based on their physical appearance.
|
Artist´s Note: Body Space is a piece that examines spatial relationships between one´s knowledge versus their physical body. Also, the piece tends to reconfigure the individual by drawing the knowledge and their physical components. |
Artist´s Note: The inspiration for this piece was an individual in Jamaica who was selling his carvings to survive within the Jamaican economy. Through conversations with the individual, I began to recognize that individuals have to bend into difficult positions to survive. These positions often compromise the dignity of humans; however, through activism the individual can bend in other positions that will positively impact the system. |
Artist´s Note: Rediscover Time is a piece that encompasses the past and the future of the struggle of human beings over time. The composition of the piece leads to various experiences and possible opportunities that present themselves throughout one´s life.

"The New Venus"
Jack M. Brandt, 2004
40 X 30
Oil On Canvas
|
Artist´s Note: At first glance, this piece does not present a clear way to be viewed. In life and advocacy activities the way is not clear and is often convoluted by external factors. Ultimately, the piece does have a way and each individual needs to negotiate the way through their life.
|
Artist´s Note: Blue Passion depicts the passion in one´s life that makes the individual want to advocate for real change. The vibrant colors in this piece represent the strong stance that an individual must take in order to achieve their goals.
|
Artist´s Note: In this piece the object is expressing freedom with recognizing the possibilities of exercising their natural freedom, which surrounds the individual.
|
Artist´s Note: The New Venus is a piece that depicts two body states, one disabled and the other able-bodied. In this piece I attempted to combine the two body states to symbolize the interconnectedness of these two states in our communities. |
